Hidenari Kobayashi received his art degree from Wako University [a private university at Machida, Tokyo] in 1980. He studied at the Catalunya State Bookbinder Art School in Barcelona, Spain, from 1981-84. In 1989 he won the Director's Prize of the National Museum of Nature and Science at the 6th botanical drawing contest. In addition to participating in solo and group exhibitions in Japan, Korea, the UK and elsewhere, his work has been featured in the Hunt Botanical Painting International Open Call Exhibition at Carnegie Mellon University. He teaches botanical art courses at colleges and community centers throughout Japan.
