    Description:
    1 v. (unpaged) : col. ill.
    Summary:
Dot’s family is having a hard time. With Dot's family stuggling so much financially due to her mother's illness there is not enough money for a lot of presents at Christmas, and Dot is disappointed when she can't even have a dollar to spend at the town's drugstore for a raffle for a beautiful dollhouse. Her father has work, but her mother is terribly sick, and there is barely enough to make ends meet and definitely not enough money for a lot of presents this Christmas. Dot is captivated by a beautiful dollhouse in the window of the drugstore, but her family doesn’t have a dollar to spend there to be entered in a raffle for it. This is a Christmas story about hope in the face of hardship, and about communities gathering close and taking care of each other. Set in Nova Scotia during the Great Depression, this is a story that will appeal to anyone who believes in the magic of Christmas.
