Summary:
A history of the coal mining industry in Cape Breton in the 1920's. This video examines how the British Empire Steel Corporation purchased every steel and coal company in Nova Scotia, cut wages by a third and caused a bitter labour dispute, forcing miners into a long and violent strike that was ended by the military in 1925, but not before the miners had broken up the monopoly, providing an example to workers across the country.
