Summary:
"18-year-old Xavier Raddysh knew at an early age tha the was not a girl. By the time he was a teen it was painful being treated as a girl. He began 'cutting' and eventually attempted suicide, twice. Today he describes himself as a role model for other trans people; speaking to students so trans people know they can get through it and other can be more understanding."--Container.
Series: "A series designed to record, share and celebrate the personal stories of transgender women and men, their stories of struggle, courage, and triumph. Each program reflects the broad diversity that exists within the trans community. Though they vary in age, ethnicity, and socioeconomic backgrounds, each one has fought to cast off the gender assigned to them at birth and embrace their true selves. These documentaries take us firsthand into the lives of people who are transgender, revealing their struggles and life changing transitions. It takes a powerful look at this new generation, exploring the medical possibilities, struggles and choices of transgender teens, adults and their families face today. Each documentary helps students to think of the difference in each of us in a positive way, breaking stereotypes, acceptance, challenging prejudice and increasing visibility for the transgender community."--Container.
