    Summary:
"Stained glass has provided joy in churches for centuries, and is now often found in a range of secular settings. As well as its spiritual beauty, the use of stained glass symbolizes establishment and longevity. Indeed, the techniques involved are little changed since they were first used in the Middle Ages. This exciting book explains the secrets that lie behind the craft, emphasizes the importance of working with light, and celebrates the pure joy and excitement of working with the fragile yet powerful medium of glass. Written with the maker in mind, it guides the reader through the processes of first working with glass through to designing and building your panel. It then goes on to look at the restoration and repair work the stained glass maker is often asked to undertake. Sophie D'Souza's passsion for her craft is apparent throughout the text and her photographs bring it alive. This book is a beautiful testament to her talent, and to one of the oldest and most treasured art forms the never disappoints." --Jacket.
