Summary:
HerStory : speaks to the history and struggles of Black women to overcome societal bigotry to become members of Canada's National Police Service. As an African Nova Scotian and a long serving member of the RCMP, Craig Marshall Smith has encapsulated the entire journey those individuals have taken to become part of the fabric of policing in Canada. This book is dedicated to the Black women who presently serve and have served in Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Their story is an important part of the RCMP story and of Canadian history. This book examines the positive strides that have been made over the years, highlighting community-based initiatives. The book also explores the role that race and racism have played throughout this journey. Black women are truly making a difference in Canadian law enforcement.
