Marcus J. Borg (1942 – 2015) was canon theologian at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Portland, Oregon and was a former Hundere Distinguished Professor of Religion and Culture at Oregon State University. Borg was among the most widely known and influential voices in progressive Christianity and was a major figure in scholarship related to the historical Jesus.
