    Summary:
Sam Tracker had inherited the T-Bar Ranch from an old tubercular he'd been taking care of, but all he had was the land and the title. Within four years, he had become the breeder of fine horses in a beautiful valley in the fir-clad Texas hill country. The horse-riding Army was looking into better mounts for their soldiers, so Tracker made contact and was soon breeding very particular horses that would be an integral part of a special mission. Tracker had done well for himself, but the ranch had become more than one man could handle, so he finally took Kirby Landers on as a partner. The T-Bar was flourishing, and Tracker was about to marry his sweetheart Christine Benton. Life was good - until one day he returned to the ranch from a visit to town to find that his horses, Christine and his partner were gone, and the ranch's capital had been withdrawn from the bank.
