    Summary:
"The Brothers Byrne (1975) Pat and Joe Byrne grew up in the outport of Paradise but moved away as children, when the community was abandoned as part of a resettlement program. The brothers live in the city now and work in education. But as they grew up, the Byrnes were drawn to their past, and they began making regular trips back to their now-empty community. This film follows them on one of these trips, and makes it clear that they always carry the outport with them--in their memories, in their hearts and in the music the make together. (22 min.) The Author of these Words: Harold Horwood (1982) A 1960s-era Newfoundland television host describes Harold Horwood as "author, editor, hippie, McLuhanite." Add labour organizer, mentor, educator, politician and newspaper columnist to that list, and you begin to capture the scope of Harold Horwood's life. From his Nova Scotia home, the free-thinking Horwood reads from his work and holds forth on his life and ideas. We also hear from Joey Smallwood, Farley Mowat and a host of young writers Horwood inspired. (29 min.) The Tenth Frontier is a 12-part series highlighting 50 years of NFB films from and about Newfoundland and Labrador. From touching personal stories, to portraits of public figures, to windows on ways of life now past, The Tenth Frontier is a treasure of historical films and fresh perspectives."--NFB.
