This is the story of the great Gaelic hero Fionn MacCool and why he sucks his thumb. The tale introduces children to Gaelic storytelling, oral tradition, language and culture and is perfect for reading aloud in a classroom or group. In the introduction, actions or gestures are given that match with nine keywords in the story. Two versions are provided: all English and English with Gaelic keywords. The tales of Fionn MacCool and his band of warriors, the Fiana, were popular across the Gaelic world and were brought by Scottish Gaels to Nova Scotia beginning in the 18th or 19th century.
