A moving picture book, written and illustrated by young new Canadians from Fairview Heights and Duc D’Anville Elementary Schools in Halifax. The children’s voices in the book represent over twenty countries and are a testament to the rich diversity of our community. A Picture From My Hand, A Message from My Heart is a powerful collection of stories, memories, words and images. Children share their sense of loss at having left their friends, family and homes behind them, and talk about beginning again in Canada, revealing their resilience and tremendous hope for the future.
