    Summary:
"This project began as a news feature for Third Wave Radio (Thursdays 14:00 - 15:30 on CKDU 88.1FM in Halifax or ckdu.ca) in fall 2009. Gianna Lauren approached two midwives working in Halifax and Bridgewater NS, members of the Midwifery Coalition in Nova Scotia, and a Halifax resident who recently gave birth with the assistance of a midwife. As the stories began to unfold, an intrigue developed and the wealth of experiences of working midwives suggested that this topic deserves a larger audience. This audio project is supported by the Community Radio Fund of Canada and CKDU FM. This project will act as an educational resource. Midwifery is a health care issue and the subject focuses on the experiences of women giving birth and the men and women who help women give birth. The practice of midwifery in the province of Nova Scotia is facing ongoing challenges that are unknown to the majority of the general public, and community radio can provide an outlet for citizens to voice their concerns. Promoting safe and natural health care is at the center of this project, and the objective is to make this audio piece accessible to the general public and increase awareness about the current vision limitations to the practice of midwifery."--ancientpractice.ckdu.ca/
