"Sinew is a cord or thread that comes from the tendons of an animal's body. Traditionally, deer, elk, moose, or buffalo were used for sinew. Sinew is extremely strong. It is used to make moccasins, bags, beadwork and many leather items. In this workbook series, sinew is like reading and writing. It is the strength that binds your life skills together. The spirit of this workbook is the cultural teachings and stories you will learn while doing the grammar lessons. Sage represents the spirit. Sage is one of the four sacred medicines used to create positive experiences. The smoke from sage is used to purify people and places. Sinew and Sage -- strength and spirit.
