    Description:
    12 p. : ill. ; 22 cm.
    Notes:
"According to legend, John O'Brien was born at sea during his parent's voyage from Ireland to Nova Scotia in 1832. As a young man, his paintings so impressed Halifax citizens that they gave him money to go to London to study art. O'Brien became one of the most important of Nova Scotia's early marine painters. He painted many fine canvasses but, at times, he had to paint exaggerated pictures of ships with every sail "drawing" wind to satisfy the demands of proud ship's captains and owner."--[p. 1]
