She once told me "it's the last nugget your grandfather found in his Little Klondyke Gold Mine". I paid no mind to her words for 50 years or so. Now, in my late seventies and with her passing, that 'last nugget' gives me an opportunity to link my own offspring to their Cox and Canadian heritage back 300 years to Edward Cox and even to the American Revolution. But could I actually find that long abandoned Little Klondyke Mine? Did it even exist at all? Where in Canada was it? Are there any government records of its existence and location? Would there be physical signs of an abandoned mine that still might be present, such as tailings from ore crushing, remnants of rusted out or broken down mining equipment, or logs from a self-built structure at the miners' camp?
