) was born in Strathsprey, Scotland, son of Alexander
Grant
. He came to America with a Scottish regiment in 1756 and married Sarah Bergen in 1759. They settled in Queens County, New York and later joined the exodus of Loyalists to Nova Scotia in 1784. Descendants lived in Ontario, Nova Scotia and elsewhere.
