Summary:  The name "Tusket" is a variation of the older French name Tousquet which in its turn was one attempt to shorten the original Indian name of the river Niketaouskit, which means "the broad, forked, tidal river." The original unpublished version of Don Pothier's History of Tusket was written in 1973-1974. A much expanded edition of that original manuscript was published by the author in 2005.
