    Description:
    xxvi, 270 pages ; 24 cm.
    Contents:
    Part 1 B-Boy -- Part 2 Islamist -- Part 3 Radical.
    Summary:
"At 16, Maajid Nawaz was a member in Hizb ut-Tahrir, a London-based Islamist group which has as its aim the re-establishment of "the Islamic Khilafah (Caliphate)" or Islamic state, to be ruled by Shariah law. He became a top recruiter, a charismatic spokesman for the cause of spreading Islam's polical power across the world. Nawaz was setting up satellite groups in Pakistan, Denmark, and Egypt when he was rounded up in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, along with many other radical Muslims. He was sent to an Egyptian prison where he was jailed along with the assassins of Egyptian President Anwar Sadat. The assassins' 20 years in prison had changed their views on Islam and violence. Maajid came out of prison four years later completely changed. He started a foundation, Quilliam, to combat the rising Islamist tide in Europe and elsewhere, using his intimate knowledge of their recruitment tactics to persuade Muslims that the 'narrative' used to recruit them (that the West is evil and the cause of all of Muslim suffering), is false. A fascinating look into one man's journey out of extremism. Maajid Nawaz is the co-founder of Quilliam (quilliamfoundation.org), a London-based counter-extremism think tank."--Provided by publisher.
