Summary:
A brief summary of the first transatlantic voyage of the Amistad called the Atlantic Freedom Tour, departing from New Haven, Conn. for 18 months on an exciting voyage of discovery, collaboration, cultural exchange,
education
and celebration. The voyage will retrace the infamous slave industry triangle with stops at nearly 20 ports which played a significant role in the trade and reflect today's
social
, political and cultural character resulting from the African Diaspora created by the trade. The Amistad will return to the United States in time to observe the 200th anniversary of the Abolition Act of 1808 and return to her home port by year's end to prepare for her next tour.
