Upon completing his sophomore year in 1915 he, along with the majority of men in his graduating class, joined the 4th University Company of the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry. This is a compilation of his letters sent from training bases and the front lines of France to the home front. In them, he thanks those who wrote to him and sent parcels, as well as he advises his brothers how they should enlist. A personal story of military service, including mention of the loss of friends in combat. Bishop demonstrateds his attachment to family, the importance of his faith, and the connections to those he knew on the campus of Acadia and in his home community.
