-- James Wilson Morrice: a magnificent obsession: an interview with A.K. Prakash / Katerina Atanassova.
Summary:
"An exciting journey into the personal and artistic explorations of the first Canadian painter who established an enviable career as an artist in Paris by the turn of the twentieth century. While living abroad for the rest of his life, Morrice also played a vital role in advancing modern artistic trends at the turn of the twentieth century in Canada. The in-depth collection of works will feature just over three decades of collecting by Mr. A.K. Prakash, and will weave the intricate story of the artist through the story of the collector and his ability to refine his collection and sustain his passion for the artist and his art"--Provided by publisher.
"James Wilson Morrice (1865-1924) was a significant Canadian landscape painter. He studied art at the Académie Julian in Paris, France, where he lived for most of his career. Morrice was born in Montreal, the son of a wealthy merchant, and studied law in Toronto from 1882 to 1889. In 1890 he left to study painting in England. The next year he arrived in Paris, where he studied at the Académie Julian. Morrice continued to live in Paris until the First World War, although he spent most of his winters in Canada and painted winter sketches and pictures of the area around Québec City that represent the Canadian side of his work."--From wikipedia.org website.
