    Summary:
Paul Bunyan and his friend Babe the Blue Ox are inseparable, whether out of doors, at school, or at home. Paul's and Babe's hankering for pancakes--and more pancakes and nothing but pancakes--soon overwhelms Paul's mom. "I just cannot keep feeding you and Babe all these pancakes." she tells Paul. "I have fields to tend." So Paul and Babe try to help her by working in the vegetable fields, but their big feet just squish and squash everything in sight. Paul's and Babe's appetites become just too big--and frankly so do they--so one day they decide it's time to follow their stomachs and find their pancake fortune in the great big world. What they find-- well, that's the story told here.
