Summary:
"Dmitry
Sergeevich
Likhachev
bequeathed more than others to those who study the ancient Russian heritage. To all others, without exception, he left letters on how to live a life which he is not ashamed of and the time which is not a pity for. And he left Memories illustrating such a life. An amazing memory has preserved many episodes from the life of pre-revolutionary Petersburg, piercing images of the blockade of Petersburg, the topography of the Petersburg suburbs and Solovki, the everyday life of the Solovetsky camp. And many names and characters. "Is it worth writing memories?" - the author asks. And so he answers it: "It is worth it - so that the events, the atmosphere of previous years are not forgotten, and most importantly, that a trace remains from people who, perhaps, no one else will ever remember, who the documents lie for." --
