This video examines how the British Empire Steel Corporation purchased every steel and coal company in Nova Scotia, cut wages by a third and caused a bitter labour dispute, forcing miners into a long and violent strike that was ended by the military in 1925, but not before the miners had broken up the monopoly, providing an example to workers across the country.
