This selection of work by Robert Browning (1812-1889) begins with his first published poem, "Pauline" (1833), and includes "Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came," which is spoken in the voice of a knight, "Fra Lippo Lippi," the monologue of a 15th-century Florentine monk, and "My Last Duchess," spoken by an apparently murderous Duke. Browning's introduction to the letters of his beloved Shelley is also presented.
