    Summary: 
    An eccentric woman, Maddy, lives a solitary existence in a ramshackle hilltop home. Her life is disrupted by her unexpected encounter with 12-year-old James -- who is still traumatized by the death of his beloved mother. He has difficulty relating to his emotionally distant father, new stepmother, and spaced-out uncle. James comes to embrace Maddy as a mentor of sorts, and the unlikely pair forms a unique relationship.
