A musical comedy directed by Hal Walker, Alvin Korwin (Jerry Lewis) and Vic Puccinelli (Dean Martin) are buddies who join the army during WWII but find that their friendship becomes strained once self-confident Romeo Vic is made a sergeant, and bumbling Alvin is left in the dust. And while Alvin struggles to obtain a higher rank than private, golden-boy Vic sets his sights on a lovely young woman named Helen (Polly Bergen). But unlucky for him, there's a pregnant girl named Millie who just might ruin his chance.
