    Park Ships were merchant steamships constructed for Canada's Merchant Navy during World War II. Park ships were the Canadian equivalent of the American Liberty Ships and the British Fort Ships. In Pictou, A total of twenty-four 4,700 ton Scandinavian class freighters were built in Pictou under Canada's Wartime Shipbuilding Program during the Second World War. The first to be built was the S.S. Victoria Park. It was launched on October 22, 1942. This book tells the story through articles from the Pictou Advocate and the Foundation Maritime employee newsletter, 'The Fo'c'sle," accompanied by photographs taken between 1941 and 1945.
