    Summary:
"Vintage knits reborn. One of the oldest textile factories in Norway, Salhus Tricotagefabrik operated outside Bergen for over 130 years, producing thousands of sweaters and other knitted fabrics. Today, the factory site houses a heritage museum dedicated to preserving the buildings and grounds - and to stoing, cataloging, and exhibiting a remarkable collection of machine-knitted sample pattern swatches dating back to 1910. The technical limitations of the knitting machines of the day gave rise to motifs with strikingly distinctive features: done in two colors or relief stiches, with small easy-to-work repeats and dynamic sense of geometry. Now, using museum samples to reconstruct dozens of these timeless vintage patterns for inspiration, we have this unique collection. Inside, you'll find: -- A detailed introduction to Salhus Tricotagefabrik, including historical photographs and personal reminiscences from the knitters and seamstresses who worked there -- Sweaters, jackets, skirts, home decor, and more, for children and adults, combining the best of both worlds: bold, retro designs, and flattering contemporary shaping and cut!"--Back cover.
