Summary:

A study of the sensuality of letter writing. Bilodo, a young postman from Montreal has a taste for calligraphy. In the evenings, he secretly steams open the handwritten letters and dreams himself into alien worlds. One day he encounters a correspondence of Haiku poetry between Professor Grandpré and Ségolène, a teacher from Guadeloupe. Bilodo falls in love with Segolene. When Grandpré dies in a car accident, Bilodo devises a daring plan: he will assume the identiy of her dead lover. Quebec author Denis Thériault was born in 1959 in Sept-Iles on the north coast of the St. Lawrence Gulf. He lives in Montreal.
