    Summary:
"The novel concentrates on the conflict between the rich and the poor countries including an allegorical dialogue between Europe and Africa personified by the main female characters. The focus is on the issues of the postcolonial feminism: "Is global feminism possible in the era of globalization?" Moreover, the issue of bio-terrorism as a form of postcolonial resistance is inscribed into the plot structure of the novel. Two female students meet in Lisbon after thirty years. They have studied together in Berlin and believed in communication between cultures and social justice. Now Sofia Elena, a doctor from Mozambique is dying. She wanted to save the women of her country but ended up as a terrorist. Kristiina, Finnish biologist, is also involved with political terrorism and international crime through the results of her research. The novel is above all a thorough intellectual discussion: Pimenoff asks important ethical questions, writes about ecological questions and the bankruptcy of human values both in concrete and abstract terms, sensually and rhetorically."--UNESCO website
