Summary:
Canoe
Kids
is an authentic exploration of Indigenous Cultures. Each
volume
focuses on one culture. We embed ourselves within the community and experience the culture, land spirituality, food, music, art, dance, harvesting and learn to live well and properly with Mother Earth. We explore the historical and connect to the present through interviews and pictures. Our publication has been compared to a cross between National Geographic and Time Magazine. Each
volume
includes an entire section of the vessel of the culture. In
volume
1
we learn about the Ojibwa Nation, we review the history of the birch bark
canoe
and then record the building and launching of a traditional
canoe
. Each
volume
has an ancient story, (many of which have never been in print before) Each
volume
has teachings about food, harvesting and living well with the land and each other. There is also a
kids
zone and an art zone and recipes too. Each
volume
is approximately 140 pages long.
