Summary:  "On 27 June 1918, the Llandovery Castle, a Canadian hospital ship returning to England, was sunk by a torpedo from a German U-boat. The act was explicitly contrary to the Geneva Convention and resulted in the deaths of 234 crew members, including 14 nursing sisters. The U-boat's officers were charged and convicted of war crimes in 1921. It was the most significant Canadian naval disaster of the First World War. Anna Stamers, a thirty-year-old nursing sister from Saint John, was one of those who died when the ship sank. Now, her story will finally be told.
