In CBC Radio's fourth annual “spoken word” Poetry Face-Off sixty-two poets from across Canada were commissioned to write poems on the theme of "play". This CD features the 13 winners from across Canada, each one claiming victory in an earlier “slam poetry” competition. The overall winner was Tim Cusack from Edmonton. The first runner up was Jesse Robinchaud from Moncton, and the second runner up was Tanya Davis from Charlottetown. The other ten winners, featured on the CD, were Jan Guenther Braun (Winnipeg ), Christian Bök (Calgary), Al St. Louis (Toronto), Endre Farkas (Montreal), Don Austin (St. John's), Dan Tysdal (Regina), Sara Loutitt (Yellowknife), C. R. Avery (Vancouver), Rosalynn Iuliucci - aka Outlawed Matter, Mr. Biz (Halifax) and Q The Romantic Revolutionary - aka Queeverne Kirk (Ottawa).
